I want to be challenged academically.
Education is a lifelong process, not something that just happens during
your college years. In your First Year Seminar, themes like "Person in
Community," help you to recognize and draw strength from your connections
to the people around you, as you will throughout your life. Your liberal
arts core classes encompass both the Judeo-Christian tradition and today's
diverse world. They shine a different light on all the relationships in
your life - at home, work, on or off campus, from biochem study groups to
the baseball team. When you select your major, you build on that core
education to reach your life goals.
We believe in hands-on learning. That's why education majors are in the
schools beginning in their sophomore year, pre-medical students are
involved in a practicum at Edward Hospital in Naperville and
communications majors produce our monthly Eye of the Eagle cable
television program. No matter what your major, you have the opportunities
to observe and experience workplace environments to prepare you for your
potential career.
Academically gifted students are further challenged with special
sections of core classes and the opportunity for independent study by
participating in the Scholars Program. You can also earn academic credit,
polish your language skills, change your world perspective and intern in
another country with our Study Abroad program.
Our class sizes are small, so your professors know your strengths and
weaknesses and can press you to excel. All your classes are taught by
professors, not teaching assistants. More than 80 percent of our full-time
faculty members hold terminal degrees and many part-time faculty members
are employed in their industry at national and regional headquarters.

"I transferred to Benedictine from a much larger university because
I had to hunt for everything there. At Benedictine, everything is at my
fingertips. I get the same academic quality, plus my professors are as
interested in my success as I am. I am getting a very solid academic
foundation. That feels good."
Grace Nijm,
sophomore computer science major

"Benedictine University provided me with a solid background in all
business disciplines including marketing, finance and statistics, each
coming into play in day to day decision making. In addition, my
communication skills and ability to work well in teams, developed through
four years of challenging work, have given me an edge in the competitive
marketplace."
