I want to participate in NCAA athletics.
If you enjoy athletic competition and physical fitness, there are many
ways to get involved at Benedictine University. The Intercollegiate
Athletic Program competes at the NCAA Division III level, and Benedictine
is a member of the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) and the
Illini-Badger Football Conference. The baseball, softball, volleyball and
basketball teams have all been recent participants in the NCAA Tournament,
and the Eagles have been the frequent winners of the All-Sports Award for
NIIC participation. The philosophy of Benedictine athletics revolves
around the firm belief that "Winners Graduate." The student in
student-athlete is always the highest priority.
Even if you are not involved in intercollegiate sports, there are
numerous intramural programs available, as well as weight facilities and
cardiovascular training equipment.

"Although my main objective in attending Benedictine University is
to obtain a degree and eventually teach at the secondary level, I feel
that participation in sports has helped me in numerous ways. Aside from
the pleasure of playing sports, participation continues to increase my
awareness of competition and achievement both on and off the field. During
my first three years at Benedictine, I have attained a better
understanding of teamwork as well as gained a great deal of confidence and
maturity that I feel will help me when I enter the real world and face
real problems. Most importantly, sports has taught me to always try to be
better by attempting to reach a higher level of excellence."

"Participating in athletics at Benedictine University was an
important part of my college experience. The friendships I made with the
coaches, my teammates and other athletes have lasted to the present day.
They have helped me throughout my professional life. As a student-athlete,
I not only enjoyed the opportunity to compete in several sports, but I
also enhanced my discipline and desire to succeed academically. My
athletic experiences helped me to become a better team player and leader
in life."
