I want to take advantage of the activities the Chicago area
has to offer.
Enjoy the rich, cultural and educational resources of Chicago, one of
America's great cities. Professors and resident assistants organize field
trips to the Chicago Art Institute or Broadway shows like Rent and Phantom
of the Opera. Or hop on the train and spend a day downtown riding the
ferris wheel at Navy Pier, watching the frantic brokers at the Chicago
Board of Trade or window shopping on The Magnificent Mile. You can even
see some major sporting events with teams such as the Cubs and White Sox,
Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks. Sometimes the excitement happens right on
campus, with performances by world-famous artists like Bob Dylan, Blues
Traveler or the Bolshoi Ballet.
Benedictine is also a part of greater Chicago's business life.
Internship and excellent employment opportunities are available at several
area corporations in the "Research Corridor" along I-88. FORTUNE 500
companies in the area include AT&T, Amoco, Argonne National
Laboratory, Dun & Bradstreet, Eastman Kodak, IBM, Kraft, Lucent
Technologies, Nicor, Panasonic and Sun Microsystems.
Benedictine provides a safe environment for learning and socializing.
Secure residence halls, adjacent parking lots, lighted paths and emergency
call boxes complement the efforts of our 24-hour public safety
officers.
"Chicago has a wide variety of opportunities of which to take
advantage. By attending Benedictine University, I'm able to live in a
smaller community and still get to the city by train - it's so easily
accessible. It's fun to go places like the Art Institute and experience
what I am learning about in class."

"Benedictine's proximity to Chicago certainly affected my decision
to attend the University. As a communications major, I knew I wanted to
work in the print media, and Chicago is of course a major media market. I
grew up in a rural, farming community where opportunities for media jobs
were limited, so the opportunities available in 'Chicagoland' were very
appealing. My junior year at Benedictine, I landed an internship in the
city with the same organization at which I'm happily employed today.
Benedictine's location has had a major influence on my current career
path."
